My wife, Jackie, and I moved to Ruidoso to be closer to our family in 2000, and after our visit to the Gateway church, we knew we had found a new family of loving people that we wanted to be a part of. It was the beginning of a new life for us, filled with challenges of being a part of the teaching program of the church and cultivating and being enriched with a host of new friends. Being part of an effort to spread the love of God through the message of Jesus Christ has been the most rewarding part of the long life God has blessed me with. Someone accurately conveyed truth when he wrote

“The best use of life is love; the best expression of love is time; the best time to love is now.”

My wife, Jeri, and I and our three sons Kody, Kent and Kyle moved from the Silver City, New Mexico area to Ruidoso in 1982.  I started Ruidoso Land Surveying Company in 1983 and Jeri has been a part of that, has raised a family, and teaches reading at the Ruidoso public schools.  The Sparks family became a part of the Gateway family in the fall of 1982.  Our daughter Kammi was born in 1983 and daughter Kara in 1986.  All five children started school in Ruidoso and graduated from Ruidoso High School.  My family and I have enjoyed activities such as running, scuba diving, biking, hiking, caving, sports and skiing, but the heart of our family has been seeking to know God and his son Jesus Christ.  The believers that meet at Gateway have been a large part of growing and maturing my faith, knowledge and understanding of God, His kingdom and His son.  I was pleased to be chosen to become a shepherd to the flock of believers that meet at the Gateway church in 2001.  I am blessed and encouraged to serve and glorify our Father and His Son with our Gateway family in our efforts to spread His gospel and love in Ruidoso, Mexico, the Phillipines, Brazil, Singapore and through out the world,

John & Amy Duncan

John & Amy Duncan

We moved to Ruidoso in 1993 and have been part of Gateway the entire time.  We have two adult children and this community of faith helped us raise them in a culture of grace and joy.  We love this church family!  The authentic relationships and Christ centered direction have blessed us more than we could have ever imagined.

Amy loves to cook and uses her gift of hospitality.  John loves to ride bikes and ski.  Both of us enjoy camping and fly fishing.  We love the mountains and the community in Ruidoso.

As leaders at Gateway we feel honored to come along side others who are seeking the Lord and growing in Christ.  We enjoy meeting new people and serving along side long time friends.  Our goal is to love like Jesus did and share the hope we find in the gospel.

Sue and I moved to Ruidoso in 2017.  What started out as an adventure to the mountains has turned into a life full of new family and friends. Through Gateway Church, God has blessed us with new ways to grow closer to Christ and serve him in ways we wouldn’t have dreamed of before. God continues to bless us with opportunities to serve our Gateway family and the community of Ruidoso. We love the mountains, we love the work God has provided for us, but most of all we love Gateway because Gateway loves God and their neighbors.
